I am not quite sure why everyone seems to identify the dark trend with Goth culture. As far as I am concerned black has always been in fashion and there should be no argument about that. I think the East Coast fashionistas especially know this to not be a trend but a classic. If you work in fashion it is almost a requirement by most fashion houses to wear black to work, and the darker the better. I do love that it comes back to the runways renewed and fresh every Fall/Winter season with the whole world embracing its allure.
With that said, there is something so romantic and sophisticated about an all black assemble, perhaps because of its mystery and timelessness. You always want to find out more about this person who dares to be so dark and sexy. Creams and whites are my second favorite but maybe it is my renewed favoritism to old vampire movies and the surfacing of True Blood that pulls me towards the all dark classic. There is a warning to anyone putting together the dark look, chose well tailored pieces to avoid looking scary and add touches of lace or chiffon for romance. For accessories use layered necklaces (chains) that make a statement against the black canvas, but if you feel that look is not for you, subtle pieces works just as well. Leather always adds a more put together look to black fabric, lucky for you there is no shortage of leather jackets, boots and handbags to chose from this season.
