Sooooo….. Here we go! After a lot of back forth between publishers, editors, promoters, commercial interests etc. I decided to go solo and publish my thoughts and words with the artist network Amusedom.com, which in my opinion is the future of publishing. Why? Because it makes a lot of sense to me to publish my words and thoughts online where it is easy for the reader to customize my literature, pics and tips according to his or her own liking. Print or electronic. You got it!

Here is the teaser of my upcoming book ‘NYC – HEAD OVER HIGH HEELS’.

The book is is a passionate love story between the city that never sleeps and myself. It’s a very personal story told through my own POV where you will encounter a lot of crazy, amazing and totally lovable New Yorkers, who both filled and broke my heart. Passion, art, disappointment, love and hate. The name of the NYC game….

Moreover, the book is filled with the newest insider info about what to do, where to stay, the arts, theater, the top notch Spas, where to dine, dance, drink, kiss and shop. Even though I’m Danish born and have lived in many countries and cities around the world NYC is truly the first city I ever really felt at home in. Period.

I wrote the first edition of the book while still living in NYC in 2007 & 2008 and it was published in Denmark in May 2008 by Thaning & Appel. I was lucky enough that it became a bestseller, hence I decided to create an updated version with all the newest tips, tricks, must-dos and experiences straight from ‘the city that never sleeps’. This is your ultimate guide to NYC!

Have you used a plastic bag today? They are all around us, yet so hard to notice because plastic bags have become such a common part of our lives we just do not think twice about their use. You might already know the company ChicoBag, started by Andy Keller with the goal to provide you with chic non-plastic bags you can reuse over and over and will never be tempted to throw out. Andy’s passion to show the public the amount of plastic bags we use and throw out, sadly making up most of the landfills today, has also created the Bag Monster. After being horrified at what Andy saw on his visit to a landfill he has decided to create a company that not only sells but also educates and advocates for something greater than us, our environment.

The Bag Monster is known for its demonstrative efforts to show how useless and wasteful plastic bags are, more importantly the company strives to work with politicians to change the laws and regulations on the use of plastic. On 15th of December was the inaugural DAY WITHOUT A BAG summit is being held in Los Angeles. The plan was to provide a guide to those who attended on how to reduce their personal bag consumption. Local policy makers, community activists and environmental advocates were in attendance to provide real-life case studies and advice on what you can to help change things in your community. The company continues to be part of events like this one simply because that is what they are about. Even though Bag Monster has its funny plastic bag moments, their work is serious and has a purpose greater than just themselves. The selfless work of the Bag Monster and Andy Keller is something to be admired. 

Be conscious of your use of plastic bags starting today! 

It seems like a long time ago that I was invited and attended the reception for Mary McDonald’s book signing. The celebration was at the Catherine Malandrino showroom in October and anyone who is into interiors knows there is no better place for such an event. My idea of interiors is hanging up the fashions and accessories I know as eye candy. In a place like New York there simply is not enough space to buy large furniture or the things that you might really want to keep in your apartment. Catherine Maladrino also happens to own the most gorgeous and inspiring chandelier, the clothing was obviously something to just admire. 

Since I recently moved I thought it would be a great opportunity to have the book, signed of course, as an inspiration. Mary McDonald designs in the beautifully charismatic manner and I just had to copy some of her style. The eye popping colors might be a bit much for New York, but a place that you lay down your head should be happy and feel like heaven. The mixes of the old world and the new are exactly what gets me to call a space my own and Mary does this with perfection.

The event was lovely, loved it and I will keep the book (Interiors – Allure of Style) forever.
