With black lace, this time around its  being used in a vintage manner but being combined with some different textures such as velvet, leather and sequences. Designers are taking lace in some new directions…such as in the direction of grunge which could really turn out into something Im looking forward to seeing more of in the near future!

As many women have done before today at noon women who believe in freedoms often taken for granted gathered on the Brooklyn Bridge. You might already know today is Women’s International Day. One of my favorite organizations Women for Women organized an event that gathers women and their peace banners on major bridges all over the world. Partner such as; Marie Claire and Kate Spade New York joined in the vision of different perspectives on peace. The combination of the gatherings was captured for a campaign which will demonstrate the want and need for peace, not war. The day might be over however there is so much that still needs to be done to promote peace, and it all starts in the strength of women showing that unity works. I wish I could have joined and hope the “Join me on the Bridge” global campaign events are repeated next year. To find out more about these events and how you can be involved visit Women for Women.

What about the gowns? We are still far from expecting more than a few big celebrities to consider a green design unless it has a big name on it. The news is Green blogs have also been talking nonstop about Suzy Amis Cameron’s Oscar gown. Suzy is the wife of James Cameron of Avatar and she decided to hold a contest for the greenest gown, which she would wear to the Oscars. The contest also served as a fundraiser for scholarships to a nonprofit elementary school named MUSE. MUSE is an incredible concept for a learning environment and school any parent would want their child involved in. The winner was of the contest was Jillian Granz, an apparel and textile design student at Michigan State University. Her design won because she challenged her creative limits to make the dress sustainable, and as any designer would tell you it is no easy task to find the materials. The gown is blue, zero waste and made of silk derived from cocoons without killing the silk worms. The beautiful creation is just one of many more green gowns created and to be worn in the future. Enjoy watching the Oscars!

Ok, then imagine this: 12 suit clad garcons greet you in the Valet parking while 5 London ladies make sure you are on the list before you get escorted up the elevator to the penthouse (sorry, can’t remember the exact floor). On top of the building which is located smack on Sunset Blvd on the borderline between West hollywood and Beverly Hills an amazing view unfolds. the whole top floor is a 360 degree of pure panorama view watching over LA. It’s beyond amazing.

But it gets better. Even though the club is not ready yet and workers are still putting up wall paper in the powder room the feeling is delicious and just puts a smile on your face. Service, wine and crowd just really works for me tonight. A hallway takes you from the dimly lit bar and restaurant to the garden slash patio where olive trees, marble, a pond surrounded by candle lights makes the perfect escape from Sunset’s hustle and bustle.
