Throwing on red lipstick and a smoky eye takes a good hair day, but once you know you can pull it off the combination is just empowering. Lipstick needs to come back, not as a trend but as a mainstream glam look you that will force people to dress up. There is a warning that comes with a color as attention calling as red. Shades of red can be tricky, however once you have your pick of color wear it proudly.

Red lipstick always makes me think retro and is a perfect excuse to pick up something vintage to wear. I hope to see more red this Fall, it seems some of the Spring collections already have their hearts set on it.

This might not make me a beauty expert on paper. But I know damn well if a creme works after you have been on a flight for 11 hours (since I fly all the time) or what scrub is best after 8 days in the jungle on a film location, or what eye relief to splatter on after a really ‘interesting’ and long night out on town.

So here it goes!

I tested these products from Nimue and I have to say that I’m pretty damn pleased with the result so far.

In the beginning my skin freaked out completely with breakouts, and I even had some weird itching going on. I almost dropped the whole thing. However, after a week using the line persistently my skin looks so much better and feels much softer, moist and clean than before.

My favorite product so far (I still have to try some of the masks) is the so called ‘Alpha Lipoic Activator’. Long name. I know. And in combination with the Purifying creme it does the job. I hate sounding like a beauty ad, but hands down; I’m only preaching the remedy I take myself.

You can probably find the products from Nimue online. But I got them at the spa I always visit when in Copenhagen called Dollface.

My favorite product!!! I use it twice a day and especially good around the eyes. You are only supposed to use it 3 times a week. I definitely overused it. But it’s such a treat!!!!

This baby is a bit harsh, but it goes very well with the serum in blue tube above. It’s a creme. Use this one first and then apply the serum from the blue tube on top and you will be fine the rest of the day.

Cleanser and toner. Not rocket science. Not even for me. I like the cleanser a lot. it does the job. Gets rid of all the dirt and makeup in no time. The toner is a bit harsh, but good after a long day out in a big, poluted city like for instance NYC or LA.

The best thing you can do for your skin is take the necessary steps to do your best and leave the rest up to mother nature, or your dermatologist. The most common mistakes women make is forgetting to take their makeup off at night. No matter how tired you are drag yourself to that sink because you will pay for it the next day.

Now onto the subject of makeup brushes. I have had a chance to try different type of brushes, my current favorite are from Chanel. They are made from 100% natural hair but tend to be on the expensive side. 

I am always on a search for a new makeup brush and have recently tried the DermaBrush Collection vegan brushes from DermaQuest. Their brushes are super soft and do not shed, this is a big deal in a world of beauty products. All the makeup brushes are made from high quality synthetic fibers and are naturally antimicrobial. If you are a beauty junkie that is thinking about switching to a more Eco friendly brush this one is for you. My personal favorite is a big fluffy brush called the Kabuki brush and the pro-multi task eye brush for applying eye shadow.  They are both perfect for my purposes, however all their brushes are great to use.

Fall is my season, I enjoy the leaves changing, the beautiful colors, everything pumpkin, cozy nights and of course the excitement of taking out that sweater wardrobe.  Fall also means that Winter is around the corner and this year the winter blues have hit me before it even started.  I have taught myself some tricks in order to keep my mind at the beach while I am cleaning the frost off of my car windows.  A tan always comes to mind, however sunless tanning can be bad for your skin and when done religiously it can be expensive.  This is when tinted moisturizes come in. I am not talking about the kind that make you orange but the kind that leave you feeling like you moisturized properly and also gained some color in the process.  Here are few I would recommend. Be careful with using tinted moisturizers, use them sparingly and immediately wash your hands after use.

While I am on the subject of nail polish, do you ever wonder if your nail polish or nail polish removed is making you sick?  I have recently switched to some organic alternatives and I have to say that I do not miss the harsh smell of chemicals. It is especially bothersome when there are children or pets around. Next week I will let you know about some options which you can switch to.  Yes not everything has to be organic, but some things are just worth it.
