It is truly a sad thing but I think our generations are not producing any real icons, especially not ones that will go down in history as unique individuals; such as Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn. I agree with the article’s theory of getting rid of the hoe and embracing who are you and what makes you unique.  A great example mentioned is the  the euro-glam hippie look of the 70s fashionistas.

I completely identified with the article because when dressing up to go out I would probably be considered more on the conservative side. Not that I am not an admirer of mini-dresses, mini-skirts or low necklines, with the right execution this can be a very classy and fresh look. After all we can all see how sexy some designer collections can be.

When I was a teenager, fashion went as anything goes.  Today  I like to make a much more subtle statement with attention being paid to detail so that I come across as myself, not what the society thinks I should look like. This could be why I do not feel bad that while all the other girls are showing off a much too exposed leg or their cleavage is practically popping out in your face, because that is simply not my style. Sure I might not get as much attention from the gawking eyes of men, but I will attract something much more genuine, a real gentleman. That is if there are any left out there and believe me I am on a mission to find them.

I like to dress in a way that would probably attract a woman’s attention and a well educated man rather than someone looking for..well a hoe. I should mention that in a man’s world how you dress most likely does not make a difference, the old, the young, they will look regardless.  After all, men are visual.  They are just not looking at your clothing. I suppose sex sells and this can be turned on and off, just like charm can, so knowing what is appropriate and when is very smart and I could be used as an advantage.  

So pretty little young things can and should frolic around in much more youthful and skin baring looks, however I think someone needs to teach them how to dress with style and not always fall into trends and what the wrong type of a man would like them to look like. They can seek this advice from the well known icons or the older generation of women in their lives. It is my belief that the older a woman gets the more knowledgeable and sophisticated she should be, this means get more covered and comfortable. By covered and comfortable I do not mean dress frumpy. I mean wear clothing that you know will flatter your figure and makes you feel like the grown up you are. Of course the bohemian euro-glam look is all about this, the fabrics, the prints and the silhouettes are super gorgeous while also very comfortable. I am very happy about this Spring’s collections because the silhouettes personify the euro-glam, ethnic looks, and sharp tailored suits because it is time to go back to our roots of dressing like women, not little school girls with a complex.
