inspirations from Coco Chanel and her apartment.   Vintage fashion is a big part of the green lifestyle.  Everything can gain a new breath of life, whether it remains in its amazing old condition or is remade into something fresh.  Not only is it a good idea to recycle your old fashion items because the economy is not in your favor, but it also environmentally friendly.  Imagine all the old clothing and jewelry you have, the consumerist in you will tell you to simply throw them out and buy everything new.  Those things can be reused and remade, if not by you by someone else who will consider them a treasure.  This is the frame of mind I am in this week and will remain there until all my old/new things have been given a second and third chance.  As the creator and pioneer of costume jewelry, what would Coco Chanel do? Vintage has never looked so good.

I do feel the fabrics had an outdated look, frames were too boxy and those shoes are just not flattering on anyone, however I fell in love with the gowns and their detailed work.  We can always count on the outstanding craftsmanship and in the end that is what a girl wants in a great dress or suit.  I picked what I felt were the best of the show for me and my style.  Chanel can never do wrong in my eyes, forever Chanel. 

 The glamour of the movie was created with a cast already familiar to Lagerfeld because they have been a part of his entourage or work for the House of Chanel.  Model Edita Vilkeviciute is playing the young Coco from 1913.  That year Coco Chanel has set up her shop in Paris, the second part of the film takes place in 1923 during World War I when she has had her business already established.  Many of the characters are tied to Russia along with Chanel’s lover the Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich. Karl Lagerfeld’s Collection has a Russian inspiration and the movie is after all named “Paris-Moscou”.  

Lagerfeld describes the production: “It’s a funny movie, unpretentious.” “Chanel was a charming woman, at liberty to seduce men. Everybody this year has decided to make a movie about Chanel, and you know their historical worth is not always too exact.”

Finally something worth watching.
