I must admit I am one of those “all wrapped in grey” girls. When you open my closet you can easily misinterpret me as color blind. My heart always beats faster for Stella, Phoebe for Chloe and now Sarah McGibbon.  I call them pale designers.

I certainly believe that the image of a label characterizes us, such as; the bargain hunters. I mean I totally buy CK One cause I believe I will look like Natalia Vodianova in denims and white tee.
So tell me how do you convince a girl who believes in a polished “I don’t care” natural look into wearing color?  I will tell you.

A few years ago I was on regular chic getaway with my girls on a sunny island of the Adriatic coast. Since you practically only sunbathe and party you have the time to spot all the charming people. I can still remember that wildish London crew next to me popping champagne. One certain girl in a print Mathew Williamson dress had caught my eye. I recognized the dress from a Harper’s Bazaar issue I was flipping through a few weeks back in London. That is when this luminous idea came across my head.  I realized: look she is wearing Matthew and she is obviously having a lot more fun than you.  She had sleek long blond hair with a slight tan and freckles, she looked absolutely flawless.

That is the thing about Matthew Williamson; it is like a secret society of beyond cool stylish party people whose second home is Ibiza, yet they act like royalty. That’s a Matthew vibe.

Willamson is also one of those designers that totally understands that a woman is at her most chic when she wears shorts with long sleeves to the beach. Who cares if you are sweating? In previous seasons every mass store chain around the globe copied his printed long dresses. His summer collection often contains a caftan.  In a minute you become one of those socially booked rich housewives that welcomes you with a fresh mojito in hand while hosting a fabulous party in her pool house somewhere in Mauritius.

The designer himself looks friendly enough to be that loyal friend that will chill with you après the parties. Is that why you can always see Sienna Miller, Jade Jagger or Thandie Newton around him? He is even friendly enough to have artist formerly known as Prince in his front row. Every season he goes beyond himself and extemporizes even more with colors and fabrics, yet somehow his prints harmonize exquisitely. It is like a rainbow, colorful but the result of the image is perfection.  Every season when the new runaway report comes in you almost immediately recognize Matthew Williamson’s models.

This is why this grey girl loves color now, only from Matthew. I say; what is Ralph or Calvin for the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard that is Matthew Williamson for exotic vacations.  Talking bout vacations, we are totally going this year. That’s why I’m going to stay in queue for the new Matthew collection for H&M. I need to add little color to my grey crisis.
