Ann Gustava

When I was in Copenhagen in May I experienced this young, drop dead gorgeous female artist with a surreal and morbid yet beautiful  take on the world that surprised, seduced yet repulsed me. (Her art did – that is he he …)

Her name is Ann Gustava, born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark. She has a history as a model, designer and is a true European ‘IT-girl’ splitting her base between London and Copenhagen. Today she works mainly with photography and illustration.

KK: What is your biggest inspiration?

AG: I find my biggest inspiration in film. I’m a huge David Lynch fan. I work with certain atmospheres and my pieces take form from there.

KK: What is your method?

AG: I only do my collages in hand. I don’t use photo shop like many people think. I shoot my backgrounds and motives with my Canon D5 and put them together in a new context after wards.

If you are up on your labels and models, you will know Lykke May Andersen as one of the exotic beauties in Victoria’s Secret, Sports Illustrated and well known designer houses. Among her many talents the Danish model has a love for the fashion industry. With the help of other talented friends she has started a fashion line named Chick With Guns.  It all started with denim and quickly expanded.  The name is brilliant, to me the line represents a powerful woman who knows what she wants and takes no nonsense.

Stripes, gold buttons, white blouses, sailing yachts, anchors and knots.  A comortable naval look is classic Chanel. See the naval looks recently worn by celebs. Do not try wearing a giant Chanel logo if you do not possess the proper confidence, only a select few can put it off.

Do I love Vogue?  Most Definitely.  So naturally when I saw the image of Cameron Diaz in Olsen Haus sandals I was all too excited to share it here.  The vegan shoe brand has been catching the attention of shoe lovers everywhere, not just celebrities.  Olsen Haus is a pure vegan relief for those who do not believe in killing animals for fashion thrills but also do not want to give up style.  These shoes are oh so gorgeous and the June Vogue photo of Cameron looked casually cool as always.  Go to http://olsenhaus.com for more shoe therapy!

I do admire Kate Moss and her entrepreneurial spirit and let’s face it Kate Moss can sell pretty much anything. I will have to get a closer look at the Spring/Summer collection for myself, however the rumor is that the quality to price comparison is not worth it. The brand new store is located in on Broadway and Broome Street and includes four floors of heavenly shopping, included with a VIP area for shy celebrities.  Top photo of Kate Moss at the opening with Sir Philip Green.

I’m a 20 year old fashion blogger, quintessential shopaholic, and self-proclaimed fashionista from Winnipeg, Manitoba – Canada. I’m going in to my 4th (and final year) of the University of Manitoba’s Textile Sciences (Product Development Stream) program where I’ve learnt the essentials on fashion and apparel design. I love fashion design and creating beautiful clothes and would love to someday sell my designs in my own boutique!

In December 2008 I was chosen out of 116 applicants as one of the 25 finalists for the Telio Design Competition 2009 (www.telio.com) and earlier this month had the dress I designed and created in the Telio fashion show during Montreal Fashion Week! It is one of my proudest accomplishments to date – nothing compares to the rush and excitement of a fashion show- especially when it’s your design coming down the runway!

One word could not sum up my style, but if I had to choose one it would be ‘ever-changing’. I’m inspired by new things every day. My family is a big inspiration; my dad is an entrepreneur, my mom is extremely artistic, and my brothers are musicians. My boyfriend is an artist and he inspires me every day. I love travelling to Europe and have gathered inspiration from the places I’ve been; Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Greece, and Cyprus. Fashion bloggers across the globe inspire me! I have an obsession with clothes and am constantly adding vintage pieces to my wardrobe – I don’t believe style and high price tags go hand in hand. To be honest, being a full time student I’m forced to be frugal but can still remain fashionable!

Despite mixed reviews from shopaholics I believe it is for each individual to judge the price and quality comparison.  The fact that her name is attached to the collection and she wears her own pieces shot by the paparazzi most likely helps. 

This proves that when you focus on the positive and productive you can become happier and healthier, and it seems Nicole is the happiest she has ever been.  Perfect time to be creative.  Nicole is launching a lifestyle line featuring footwear in Spring 2010 and working on maternity clothing.

Celebrity labels are not always the most creative or rather high fashion, however Nicole’s laid back and unique style comes through and is not pretentious.  We love it.  Included are recent photos of Nicole Richie impersonating Lady Gaga for BlackBook Magazine!!

Not to be excluded, Pamela Anderson has been in talks with a designer friend Richie Rich regarding a line of her own cruelty and leather free shoes.  The line will be appropriately named Muse and will include casual design pieces as well. If the styles are inspired and anything like what Pamela normally wears the lifespan of the brand might not be long.  

Sid Vicious along with Sloane Ranger are said to define the fabulous British era and Giannini tries to captures this time of swinging London in her designs.   

The Sloaney bag uses the GG Canvas along with the Union Jack (British flag) of the former British Empire and is seen carried by Kate Moss.  If you are not into the interlocking Gs the Royal Blue ‘Joy’ handbag made from royal-blue crocodile leather is a perfect substitute.  The color is modern and the handbag is a classic.  The  Sloaney Collection would not be complete without including a complete luggage set, trolley suitcase, duffle bags and other accessories.   The collection is available only from Gucci’s Sloane Street residence which has been redesigned to reflect the Era and it’s cultural influences.
