Everyone loves a bad boy and no one else can translate a theme into a live show quite like like Karl Lagerfeld. The Chanel Cruise 2011 fashion show was easy breezy with a mix of tough. As usual the workmanship and designs were exquisite. All I can say is that the sun is coming out tomorrow and this collection provides us with plenty of inspiration for the warmer months to come.

Karl Lagerfeld speaks out about all the talk on skinny models and vents in Focus magazine. He states that the world of fashion is supposed to depict fantasy, “dreams & illusion”.

“No one wants to see curvy women.” “Fat mummies sit there in front of the television with their chip packets and say skinny models are ugly.”

What is your opinion on (the now skinny) Karl’s quote?

Karl himself has battled with being overweight at one point and therefore should be a bit more sensitive, however he is partially right. Yes, there is such thing as too skinny and the pushing of models to be unhealthy is completely wrong. With that said, most models are naturally skinny and people do tend to be green with envy without looking at their own unhealthy lifestyle. It is about the clothing people, not about the model. Sometimes when people get model obsessed they forget it is about the fashion and its creation.

I might be someplace in the middle when it comes to gun laws. When it comes to the Chanel gun shoe, the right to bear arms does not have to be a debatable subject. I am talking about the 2009 Chanel shoe. These shoes will do justice by any well heeled girl but it is not for everyone.

I am a bit disappointed with the Fall 2009 Chanel Couture show, however admitting Karl Lagerfeld has done more than amazing work for the house of Chanel. No one gets it right every time and every show it seems as if Coco Chanel still lives and has created the production herself. The magic of Paris plays a big part in the show and to me the models can walk around in a potato sack they will glide down the runway right out of a fairy tale. This is Chanel.

I do feel the fabrics had an outdated look, frames were too boxy and those shoes are just not flattering on anyone, however I fell in love with the gowns and their detailed work. We can always count on the outstanding craftsmanship and in the end that is what a girl wants in a great dress or suit. I picked what I felt were the best of the show for me and my style. Chanel can never do wrong in my eyes, forever Chanel.

Karl Lagerfeld has always been all about preserving Coco Chanel’s original vision of the Chanel house. No one should be allowed to critique what he does, even when the House of Chanel stays in the same place it has always been, it is forever Chanel. A short 10 minute silent film about Chanel’s early years was premiered in Paris this week all under the supervision and production of Karl Lagerfeld. The man is multi talented.

The glamour of the movie was created with a cast already familiar to Lagerfeld because they have been a part of his entourage or work for the House of Chanel. Model Edita Vilkeviciute is playing the young Coco from 1913. That year Coco Chanel has set up her shop in Paris, the second part of the film takes place in 1923 during World War I when she has had her business already established. Many of the characters are tied to Russia along with Chanel’s lover the Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich. Karl Lagerfeld’s Collection has a Russian inspiration and the movie is after all named “Paris-Moscou”.

Lagerfeld describes the production: “It’s a funny movie, unpretentious.” “Chanel was a charming woman, at liberty to seduce men. Everybody this year has decided to make a movie about Chanel, and you know their historical worth is not always too exact.”

Finally something worth watching.
