Chado Ralph Rucci was awarded with a well deserved standing ovation last night and it is a good thing as I was a tad disappointed with the Alexander Wang’s collection. I did of course fall in love with the leather details and long braids, which I personally took overboard this past summer. Alexander Wang drew in an it crowd of the young and important, however I loved his last collection so much that it just seems to overshadow almost everything current. Still, it remains to be one of my favorites.

Chado’s collections are geared towards the older and smarter socialite, however I feel the younger generation needs to give it a serious chance. As the saying goes, dress for the job you want, not the job you have. His collections have some serious design work behind them, owning one of his pieces is knowing you have a classic on your hands. You might also spend a fortune. I attended the show last year and the work is even more intricate up close.

Other Favorites: Ohne Titel, Preen & ADAM

ADAM might not be known for serious out there designs, but I can say without doubt I love every single piece that strutted down that runway. His explanation of an ADAM girl is what I hope my life to be, just need my closet to ketch up.

What does everyone think about suspenders? Stylish, under the correct circumstances or not?

A white tank or t shirt can instantly add a crisp look to jeans or corporate trousers. All in the power of simple without trying too hard. The colors pop against each other and practically scream I am effortless and may or may not be high maintenance. Since the economy crisis might have effected the way some shop it is more important than ever to be thrifty. Believe it or not layering a new white tank under a black suit brings an instant lift to your wardrobe…a la Reese Witherspoon in the new issue of Elle April 09

The classics, what every girl should have in her closet.

It seems more and more people are losing their jobs today and the question on every fashionistas tongue is, What key pieces to buy this season that will take you up and over the doom and gloom of bad economy? The last thing we need to worry about is competition because if someone prefers to buy a $5,000 Chanel jacket while others worry about what to eat than you do not want to compare yourself to them in the first place. I believe this season and most likely the next is going to be about individuality. This is the best time to be creative and those who are creative by nature will rise on top. In the mean time, the creative has to be based on a foundation of classics which you know will never go out of style. You should not be worried about purchasing any of these and keep them in your closet far into the turmoils of the bad and good economy.

What every girl should have in her closet

-The LBD of course, safe choice and a favorite among NYC fashionistas

-A basic but powerful business suit in neutral colors, the reason this one is a must is because you can use the jacket, pants or skirt as separates any time your heart desires

-A crisp white button down shirt, combine with short and tights, voila- instant update and youthful look

-A pair of black pumps, preferably in leather and any heel type will do. I think we all know what these can do for us

-Pashmina shawl is a very sophisticated accessory and not to mention warm on that flight back home.

-A great structured leather handbag that carries your whole life in it, it does not have to be expensive to look expensive

-Pair of blue jeans in a dark wash go a long way, your butt will thank you, and so will your boyfriend.

-Big Jackie O sunglasses are must when hiding from the press, but also nice to have on a sunny day when you want to add something extra to your outfit.

-A cream colored trench for those extra gloomy days in the city, with the right trench you will feel like you stepped out of a TCM Turner classic, not to mention dry.

What not to have in your closet?

A another girl’s boyfriend
